Any Islip card holder who checks out a children’s book during the week of March 4th – March 10th can enter a raffle to win 4 vouchers to selected weekday and weeknight performances of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus!

The Color of Water: A Performance Reading

Thursday, April 26th 7:00 – 8:15 p.m.

David Houston and Debbie Starker will perform a reading from The Color of Water, in the style of a radio drama, with jazz and traditional music. Registration begins Saturday, March 3rd at 9:00 a.m.

What’s All That Jazz About?

Sunday, April 22nd 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

In celebration of The Color of Water, award-winning jazz saxophonist and Tierra Records recording artist, Shenole Latimer, will be performing along with piano accompaniment on our Steinway grand piano. The performance will include various jazz standards, as well as some original compositions.

Free tickets will be available beginning Saturday, March 3rd at 9:00 a.m.

Eat a Good Book

Thursday, April 19th 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Eat a good book lately? Bring in your favorite book and illustrate the cover (or a scene or character from it) onto a large cookie using edible paints with toothpicks and brushes. Check out one of the new books at the Library for inspiration and ideas.

There is a fee of $7.00 due when you register beginning Saturday, March 3 at 9:00 a.m.
